I am Rajasthan states’ first kayaker. So far, I have won 10 national level medals. It was in 2012 when the first tournament of kayaking was held in Udaipur and it was then that I got attracted towards the sport.
After that tournament, the teams left some old damaged kayaks (boats) which I repaired myself with the help of google and you tube. I repaired them with steal paddles and started on my journey to learn the sport. I used to practice alone and in 2014 she earned her first medal in all India inter-university competition. That motivated me further and with my saved pocket money; I went and bought carbon medals to train myself better.
Other than this, I have also represented India in world championships in dragon boat races. I have won 4 national medals, and I can proudly say I am self-taught and all these achievements were possible because of my passion for the sport.
Now of course, universities in Udaipur are also promoting the sports and provide kayaks, paddles and training.
